İYİ Party Lawmaker Slams Journalist's Claim of Defections to MHP

A Turkish journalist's claim that nine lawmakers from the İYİ Party are set to join the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has sparked a strong reaction from an İYİ Party official. Sinan Burhan, a journalist associated with the ruling AKP party, asserted on the tv100 channel that he trusted his source, stating, "9 İYİ Party lawmakers will join MHP." He further predicted "a major political upheaval" that would resonate widely.

However, Şefik Çirkin, an İYİ Party lawmaker from Hatay, vehemently refuted Burhan's assertion. Taking to his X account, Çirkin directly addressed Burhan, expressing his frustration. "I will speak harshly, it won't do. I've written it many times and deleted it back. Come on, how many years have you been a journalist? Does everyone bring you down like this? I am a founder of the İYİ Party, not a guest. Müsavat Bey's companionship is more than enough for me. If you knew him, you would come to his side too. What more can I say, brother?" Çirkin posted, quoting a segment of Burhan's statement.

Burhan's claim suggests a potential shift in the political landscape, with İYİ Party members reportedly considering a move to MHP. The strong denial from Çirkin highlights the sensitivity of such political maneuvers and the potential for internal party disputes when such allegations surface.
