Jakarta Assembly Reads Five Declarations to Ensure Security and Unity

Thousands gathered at Jakarta's National Monument on Saturday for the 'Jaga Jakarta untuk Indonesia' (Guard Jakarta for Indonesia) national assembly. Approximately 11,000 participants, including members of the TNI and Polri (Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police), mass organizations, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and laborers, attended the event.

The assembly was framed as a moment to foster togetherness and reinforce unity, with the goal of ensuring Jakarta remains a safe, comfortable, and conducive environment for all its residents. It also served to highlight the collaborative efforts between the Polda Metro Jaya (Jakarta Metropolitan Police), Kodam Jaya (Jaya Military Regional Command), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and various community elements.

The event was led by Kapolda Metro Jaya Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri and Pangdam Jaya Letjen TNI Deddy Suryadi. Representatives from different community groups symbolically read five key points of declaration. These declarations emphasized a commitment to maintaining Jakarta's security and order, rejecting all forms of provocation, intolerance, violence, and division. They also called for strengthened cooperation among government, security forces, businesses, youth, and the wider community. Furthermore, the declarations focused on protecting the younger generation from negative influences like drugs and radicalism, and fostering a disciplined, caring, tolerant, and patriotic spirit to build a prosperous Indonesia.
