Jakarta DPRD Chairman warns businesses against mocking religion for profit

Suhud Alynudin, the Chairman of the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), has strongly condemned a viral video depicting a Quran memorization challenge that offered alcoholic beverages as prizes. The incident occurred at a sponsor's booth during the "The Sounds Project Vol 9" music concert held in Ancol from August 7-9.

Alynudin expressed deep disappointment, stating that such actions deeply offend religious sentiments, particularly among Muslims. He issued a stern warning to business owners, especially those in the entertainment sector, against trivializing religion for commercial gain. "Don't let this happen again in future entertainment events," Amuhdin, who also chairs the PKS DKI Jakarta Regional Executive Board, stated on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
