Jakarta Governor Approves Kanisius Bus Stop Revitalization in Collaboration with Alumni

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has given his approval for the revitalization of the bus stop located in front of Kolese Kanisius school in Menteng, Central Jakarta. This initiative aims to improve public transportation facilities in the area.

The proposal for the revitalization came from an alumnus of Kanisius during the Canisius Expo 2026 event. The project will be undertaken through a collaboration with the alumni, prioritizing public interest.

The condition of the bus stop is very old-fashioned. If it's named Halte Kanisius and improved by alumni, as long as it's for public interest, I give my approval.

Governor Anung stated that the bus stop, which he described as "very old-fashioned," will be upgraded. He emphasized that as long as the project serves the public, he fully supports it. The revitalized stop will feature a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, commonly known as a pelican crossing, to enhance safety and convenience for all users, particularly the students of Kanisius.

Many Kanisius alumni have contributed to Jakarta and our nation. Thus, cooperation and collaboration will make Jakarta, as a global city, the capital, an inclusive city, even stronger.

This collaboration aligns with Governor Anung's broader vision of encouraging the Kanisius community and its alumni to actively participate in Jakarta's development. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Kanisius alumni to various sectors in Jakarta and Indonesia, viewing their continued collaboration as vital for strengthening the city as a global hub.

The Governor also highlighted Jakarta's strength as a global city lies in its diversity and inclusivity. He reiterated his commitment to serving all residents equally, regardless of religion, group, or ethnicity. The Canisius Expo 2026, themed "Innovating for Human Dignity," showcased student creativity and featured a large-scale dance performance, reflecting the school's commitment to multiculturalism and ethnic diversity.

As the Governor of Jakarta, I must be a governor for all groups, all religions, all affiliations, all ethnicities. Including today, I did not expect that at Kanisius the performance shown was from Kalimantan. This reflects that Kanisius truly upholds multiculturalism, multi-ethnicity, and so on.
