Jakarta Governor Pledges Swift Rebuilding of Collapsed School

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has assured that SDN Kebayoran Lama 09, a school building that recently collapsed, will be rebuilt. He made this commitment despite the absence of allocated funds in the current or revised regional budget (APBD).

Baswedan announced plans to personally inspect the school site the following day, following urgent meetings to finalize the decision. He emphasized that education is a fundamental sector and that school repairs cannot be delayed. To ensure the reconstruction proceeds without delay, he has instructed his staff to identify alternative funding streams, potentially including building coverage coefficient (KLB) funds.

The collapse of the SDN Kebayoran Lama 09 building has become a matter of serious concern for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Governor Baswedan expressed his personal dismay upon learning of the school's condition, describing it as a "slap in the face" for him and the administration.

The governor stressed that a swift decision on the reconstruction would be made. The administration aims to commence the repair process as soon as possible to minimize disruption to the students' learning activities. The incident highlights the provincial government's commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs in the education sector, even when facing budgetary constraints.
