Jakarta Governor Visits Home of Victim Killed in August 27 Unrest

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung paid his respects at the home of Bambang Setiawan, a victim who died during civil unrest in Pejompongan on August 27. The governor arrived at the victim's residence in Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta, on Friday evening to offer his condolences.

Upon arrival, Governor Anung was greeted by the victim's wife and offered words of comfort and support to the bereaved family. He spent approximately 30 minutes conversing with them, providing a moment of solidarity during their difficult time. The governor was accompanied by the Mayor of Central Jakarta, Arifin, during his visit.

Earlier, police had received reports of a civilian death amidst the disturbances in Pejompongan. Responding to the information, law enforcement officials worked to ensure the safety of the area before proceeding with the victim's evacuation. The deceased was initially found in a state of unconsciousness and was transported to RS TNI AL Mintohardjo, where he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The incident highlights the volatile nature of public demonstrations and the tragic consequences that can arise.
