Jakarta Library Holds Free Braille Reading and Writing Training

Jakarta Library, located at Taman Ismail Marzuki, is actively promoting inclusive literacy through free monthly training sessions in Braille reading and writing. Held on the 4th of each month, these sessions are open to the public and aim to broaden access to knowledge while fostering greater understanding and care for visually impaired individuals.

The program introduces participants to the fundamental principles of the Braille alphabet, equipping them with the necessary skills to comprehend the reading and writing system used by the blind. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Library and Archives Service (Dispusip) to create more inclusive library services and enhance literacy opportunities for all segments of society.

Beyond learning to read, attendees also practice writing using Braille tools. This hands-on approach helps them understand the communication methods employed by the visually impaired. Through these training sessions, the Dispusip DKI Jakarta hopes to cultivate increased community awareness of inclusive literacy and support the creation of learning environments that are welcoming to everyone.
