Jakarta LRT Velodrome-Manggarai Route Inaugurated Today, Flat Fare of Rp5,000

Jakarta's Light Rail Transit (LRT) will inaugurate its Velodrome-Manggarai route on Wednesday, August 26. Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to officiate the ceremony, with the timing contingent on the president's availability due to his current focus on handling forest fires and earthquake relief in NTT. Following the inauguration, the LRT Jakarta will operate daily from 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM WIB. To ease the transition, a flat fare of Rp5,000 will be in effect until October 2026, while the final tariff is determined in conjunction with the DKI Jakarta Regional Council. The Velodrome-Manggarai extension expands the LRT Jakarta's network to 12.2 kilometers, encompassing 11 stations. The travel time between Kelapa Gading and Manggarai is estimated at 28 minutes. This project represents an investment of Rp12.1 trillion. Anung anticipates an initial daily ridership of 60,000 to 80,000 passengers. The provincial government also plans to extend the route to Dukuh Atas by 2027. Further expansion plans include connecting Kelapa Gading to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Velodrome to the Halim high-speed train station. Anung believes these connections will establish the LRT as a primary transportation backbone for East, North, and South Jakarta, ultimately linking to Central Jakarta.
