Jakarta Police Confirm Legal Procedures Followed in Fake Diploma Case

Polda Metro Jaya has reiterated its commitment to handling the case involving allegations of a fake diploma concerning President Joko Widodo, with suspects Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, strictly adhering to legal procedures. The police emphasized that the legal process is not arbitrary and has followed a comprehensive series of steps from initial reporting to investigation and prosecution.

Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, stated that the case file has been declared complete, or 'P21,' by the prosecutor's office, signifying that all necessary evidence and documentation are in order. He confirmed that the case is now moving to the next stage, referred to as 'tahap dua,' which typically involves the handover of suspects and evidence to the prosecutor's office for trial.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, further assured that all actions, including the arrest and detention of the suspects, were conducted in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. He stressed that investigators have meticulously followed the established legal framework throughout the investigation.

Roy Suryo and Tifa were arrested on Friday, June 19, as part of the process to transfer the suspects and evidence to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office. Their arrest was a necessary step to ensure their presence for this handover, following the P21 declaration. After their arrest, both were taken for medical examinations at RS Polri Kramat Jati, where doctors recommended inpatient care to ensure their health remained stable. On Monday, Polda Metro Jaya proceeded with the 'tahap dua' transfer of evidence and the suspects to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office.
