Jakarta Prepares Traffic Engineering for 81st Independence Day Celebrations

Jakarta's Department of Transportation is preparing traffic engineering measures for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day festivities on August 17. The department's head, Budi Awaluddin, stated that traffic adjustments will be made situationally based on each event's schedule, aiming to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.

The Kirab Pengantaran Bendera Pusaka (Flag Escort Parade) is scheduled from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony at 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. In the afternoon, the Flag Lowering Ceremony will take place from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM, concluding with the Kirab Pengembalian Bendera Pusaka (Flag Return Parade) from 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM. Traffic diversions will be in effect during these periods.

Several roads around the National Monument, including Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran I, II, and III, and Jalan Majapahit, will experience situational traffic control. The department has provided alternative routes for drivers traveling between key areas like Harmoni, Tugu Tani, Karet, Tanah Abang, and Bundaran HI.

A "Pesta Rakyat" (People's Party) event is also planned from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, which will also involve situational traffic engineering in the surrounding areas. Residents are urged to pay attention to the event timings, select suitable travel routes and modes of transport, and follow the directions of officers on site.
