Jakarta residents get 50% discount on electricity power upgrades for city anniversary

PT PLN Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Jakarta Raya is offering a significant 50% discount on electricity power upgrade costs as part of celebrations for Jakarta's 499th anniversary. This promotional program is available to all customer segments and runs from June 10 to June 23, 2026.

Moch Andy Adchaminoerdin, General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, explained that the promotion allows household, business, social, public, and industrial customers to increase their single-phase power capacity up to a maximum of 7,700 VA with the discounted rate. This means customers can upgrade from, for example, 450 VA to 900 VA, or from 900 VA to 2,200 VA, and receive a 50% discount on the upgrade fee.

So, from 450 VA to 900 VA or from 900 VA to 2,200 VA, you get a 50 percent discount.

To take advantage of this offer, customers need to make a transaction through the PLN Mobile application, either by purchasing electricity tokens or paying their bills. Upon successful transaction, customers will receive a voucher code that can be used to apply for the power upgrade. Andy expressed hope that the program will support the economic activities of the community and businesses in Jakarta that require additional electricity supply for their productive operations.

However, customers must meet specific conditions to qualify for the discount. These include having no outstanding electricity bills and being registered as a PLN customer since May 2026. "If there are arrears, they must be settled first. Additionally, customers must have been PLN customers since May. Therefore, new customers registering in June cannot directly participate in this program," Andy clarified.

Andy also took the opportunity to remind the public against illegal electricity connections, warning of safety risks such as short circuits and fires. He noted that instances of unauthorized power additions using non-standard installations are still found, posing a particular danger in densely populated residential areas. PLN continues to educate the public on the hazards of illegal connections, citing the frequent discovery of non-standard wiring that increases the risk of short circuits.
