Jakarta to build 'Love Lock Bridge' over Cideng River

Jakarta is set to introduce a new romantic landmark with the construction of a "Love Lock Bridge" over the Cideng River in the bustling HR Rasuna Said area of Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Governor Pramono Anung envisions the bridge as a unique spot for couples. "There will be small bridges built over it, and on top, there will be places to put love locks," he explained. "Those with a partner will come there, attach a lock, and it will become colorful."

In the arrangement of Jalan Hajjah Rangkayo (HR) Rasuna Said, there is the Cideng River, and small bridges will be built over it.

The initiative is part of a broader revitalization project for Jalan HR Rasuna Said, a 3.8-kilometer stretch that has undergone significant improvements. The project included sidewalk enhancements, the removal of 109 monorail pylons, and adjustments to the elevation between fast and slow lanes.

Adjacent to the bridge site, the new Halte Integritas bus stop was recently inaugurated in front of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building. Governor Anung expressed optimism that the revitalized HR Rasuna Said street will become a new icon and landmark for Jakarta, noting its improved orderliness and aesthetic appeal, including specially installed orchids.

The total cost for the Jalan HR Rasuna Said revitalization project amounted to approximately 91 billion Indonesian Rupiah (around $5.6 million USD). The governor hopes the "Love Lock Bridge" will draw visitors and their partners to the area, adding a touch of romance to the urban landscape.

I am confident this road will become a new landmark for Jakarta because everyone sees it is now much more organized, neater, and even has specially installed orchids at the end.
