Jakupović's 90th-minute goal gives Osijek perfect start to season

Osijek continued their winning streak at the start of the new HNL season, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Lokomotiva thanks to a dramatic 90th-minute goal from Arnel Jakupović. The match, played at Opus Arena, saw Osijek dominate possession early on, creating several chances but failing to convert.

Despite Osijek's persistent pressure throughout the first half, including shots from Ježić and Omerović, the score remained goalless at halftime. Lokomotiva's defense, marshaled by goalkeeper Posavec, held firm for most of the match, with Mustafić hitting the woodwork in the 74th minute for Osijek.

The breakthrough finally came in the dying moments when Jakupović headed home from a corner, securing Osijek's third consecutive win and maintaining their perfect record. The victory places Osijek at the top of the league standings with a maximum of nine points. Lokomotiva, who had won their opening two matches, were unable to hold on for a draw.

In another match, Istra 1961 achieved their first win of the season, defeating Slaven Belupo 3-0. Slaven Belupo were reduced to ten men in the third minute after Kutleša was sent off. Hamza Jaganjac scored twice for Istra 1961, with Nik Škafar Žužić adding the other goal.
