The Jalisco Health Secretariat has confirmed two cases of cyclosporiasis, commonly referred to as "explosive diarrhea," but has stated that there is no outbreak in the state and has closed both cases. The state's Health Secretary, Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez, explained that the two individuals had traveled from the United States and Canada, where they contracted the parasite, and developed symptoms upon their return to Mexico. He noted that while various parasites can cause "explosive diarrhea," a localized outbreak is currently affecting over 2,300 people in the United States. Pérez Gómez emphasized that cyclosporiasis is not contagious from person to person and is treatable, though rapid action is necessary due to the risk of severe dehydration. Both patients in Jalisco have since recovered, and as no one in their close contacts showed symptoms, the cases were officially concluded.
