Jamaica's NEPA to host 2026 Game Bird Hunters' Forum amid hurricane impact

Jamaica's National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), alongside the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA), is inviting licensed hunters to a virtual Game Bird Hunters’ Forum on August 13. The meeting aims to inform participants about significant changes to the upcoming 2026 bird shooting season.

According to NEPA, the adjustments are a direct response to the impact of Hurricane Melissa on the nation's bird population, necessitating conservation efforts. The forum will provide guidance on a shortened four-weekend hunting season, revised bag limits, and specific restrictions, including the hunting of White-crowned Pigeons in certain parishes and areas where hunting is prohibited.
