JAMB releases underage UTME results and clarifies admission conditions

JAMB has released the 2026 UTME results of underage candidates, but warned that seeing a result does not amount to gaining admission.

The board defines an underage candidate for the 2026 admission exercise as anyone who will be younger than 16 on Sept. 30, 2026. It said the results were released mainly to allow candidates and their parents or guardians to see how they performed.

JAMB Public Communication Adviser Fabian Benjamin said the results could not be used for admission or any other official purpose unless a candidate met the conditions for exceptional consideration. Candidates who did not qualify were advised not to present their results to institutions or individuals while seeking admission.

Such candidates are also required to meet the relevant Post-UTME requirements of their chosen institutions and undergo the prescribed final assessment by experts.

The exceptional process includes several stages of assessment and verification. Requirements include a minimum UTME score of 320 and at least 80 percent in relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects, where applicable. Candidates must also meet their chosen institution's Post-UTME requirements and undergo a final assessment by experts.

The process remains open. JAMB said it would wait for the release of National Examinations Council results before completing the final assessment, allowing candidates who are awaiting those results to submit them for verification. Candidates can check their UTME results by sending “RESULT” to 55019 or 66019 from the SIM card used for registration.

The NECO results are yet to be released, and the Board would therefore await their release before proceeding to the final stage of the assessment process.
