James Cameron hints at ending Avatar journey after two decades

Filmmaker James Cameron is contemplating an exit from the Avatar universe, suggesting his extensive journey with the Pandora saga may soon conclude. After more than two decades immersed in the world of Avatar, Cameron expressed a desire to explore other creative avenues.

Cameron, who has directed three Avatar films to date, with two sequels scheduled for 2029 and 2031, indicated in a recent interview that he is looking ahead to new projects. He explained that he took a break from the franchise to build a submersible for deep-sea exploration. Now, after focusing on Avatar, he is open to other narratives. "So now it's time for me to look ahead and think, what are the other stories that I want to tell? How many do I need to direct myself, and which ones are sufficient for me to write and/or produce while working with other filmmakers?" he mused.

Cameron is currently evaluating various projects he wishes to bring to fruition, prioritizing those that could make the most significant positive impact.
