Chiba prefecture, located east of Tokyo, recorded an unprecedented amount of rainfall, with one city experiencing 348 liters per square meter in just 12 hours. This extreme weather event led to severe flooding, trapping victims in their vehicles and underground passages. In addition to the human toll, approximately 1,300 homes were inundated, highlighting the scale of the disaster.
