Jawa Tengah Counts Down to Welcoming 2,833 Delegates for the 2026 National MTQ

Central Java is preparing to receive thousands of participants for the 2026 National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an, with officials still monitoring unfinished venues ahead of the event in Semarang.

The competition will run from Sept. 11 to 20, 2026. Five of the 12 venues remain under construction, including the main venue at Simpang Lima Field. Iwanuddin Iskandar, assistant for government and public welfare at the Central Java regional secretariat, said the work is being monitored continuously. “We continuously monitor Simpang Lima Field, which will become the main venue,” he said at a preparation briefing in Jakarta on Aug. 31, 2026.

Other venues include the Convention Hall at the Central Java Grand Mosque, the Auditorium at UIN Walisongo’s Campus 3, the auditorium of the Central Java Religious Affairs Office, and several buildings at Diponegoro University. Officials said the appointed third-party provider was working according to schedule.

Liaison officers coordinating with 38 provinces estimate that about 2,833 delegates and officials will travel to Central Java. Including companions and other groups, the total number involved could reach 7,000. A team of 190 civil servants from 38 provincial agencies will support the delegations from arrival through departure.

Organizers have prepared 15 buses, five box trucks, 63 Toyota Hiace vans, and 76 Innova Reborn vehicles for transfers and daily mobility. Medical services will operate around the clock throughout the event, with teams stationed at registration areas, venues, exhibition sites, the secretariat, and delegation hotels. Referral hospitals include Kariadi Central General Hospital, Diponegoro National Hospital, KRMT Wongsonegoro Hospital, SMC Telogorejo Hospital, and Dr. Hospital.
