'Jaws of Death' - First Lady Says 2026 Will Forever Be Marked By Her Survival

First Lady Janet Museveni declared that 2026 will forever be etched in her memory as the year divine intervention saved her life from what she described as 'the very jaws of death.' She shared these reflections on Monday, following the consecration of her daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop of the Covenant Nations Church (CNC) at a ceremony held the previous day.

2026 is forever marked as the year You delivered my life from the very jaws of death.

The consecration service, held at Covenant Hill in Maya, was attended by prominent religious and political figures. American evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn officiated as the chief consecrator, alongside Archbishop Moses Odongo of the Pentecostal Churches in Uganda and Bishop Joshua Lwere. During the service, Patience, who founded CNC 20 years prior as a small house fellowship, received her ministerial certificate, Bible, and traditional episcopal symbols, including a ring, staff, cross, mitre, and cope.

In her address, Janet Museveni focused on her personal experience in 2026, attributing her survival to God's intervention. This reflection comes after President Museveni disclosed in June that the First Lady had been managing a health challenge since March, recovering with medical support. Having been largely absent from public view for several months, Janet recently resumed public appearances, including attending her daughter's consecration.

When the enemy came in like a flood, You lifted up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). Thank You Lord for delivering my life from the snare of the enemy. Thank You for proving Yourself true and faithful to Your Word.

Referencing Isaiah 59:19, Janet described her deliverance from 'the snare of the enemy,' expressing profound thanks for God's faithfulness. Her personal reflections were shared amidst family celebrations, including a gift of 50 cows from President Museveni and herself to their daughter. The First Lady extended her gratitude beyond her personal deliverance, thanking God for the family's long lives, their children and grandchildren, and the enduring peace and prosperity of Uganda over the years.

As a family, we have much to thank You for. You have been very gracious and compassionate to us all. You have blessed Mzee and I with long lives and we have lived to see our children and grand-children. We have seen the peace and prosperity of Uganda, all these years.
