JDT lift 11th Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup, set world record with 109 unbeaten league matches

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) secured their ninth consecutive Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup title, triumphing over Kuching City FC with a 3-0 victory at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim. This win also marked their 11th overall Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup triumph.

The opening match of the 2026/2027 Super League season became even more significant as JDT set a new world record, remaining unbeaten in league matches for an astonishing 109 consecutive games. This surpasses the previous record held by Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas.

JDT's attacking prowess was evident early on. Bergson Da Silva opened the scoring in the 11th minute after a build-up involving Marcos Guilherme. Despite efforts from Kuching City, led by coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, to equalize, JDT extended their lead in the second half. Oscar Arribas scored in the 55th minute, followed by a third goal from substitute Shahab Zahedi in the 85th minute, assisted by Arif Aiman Hanafi.

The match saw several key moments, including near misses from JDT's Bergson Da Silva and Arif Aiman Hanafi, and a save from Kuching City goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli. JDT's defense, marshaled by players like Kevin Medina and Antonio Glauder, effectively thwarted Kuching City's attempts to score.
