JDT Manager Praises Team's Fight Against Chelsea, Eyes Super League Opener

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) manager Xisco Munoz expressed pride in his team's spirited performance during their 3-3 friendly match against English Premier League giants Chelsea. The Spanish coach highlighted his players' fearlessness and fierce competition against their renowned opponents.

Munoz, who previously managed Watford in the EPL, prepared his squad meticulously for the encounter. He observed that the team played cohesively, demonstrating organized play across all defensive, midfield, and attacking positions. The players understood and executed the implemented tactics effectively.

With the pre-season friendly concluded, Munoz is now directing his attention to the Super League's opening match on August 22 against Kuching City FC for the Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup. He emphasized that the friendly's outcome is secondary to the team's continuous improvement in performance.

Munoz also identified areas for immediate improvement, particularly the sharpness of the attacking line when facing one-on-one situations with the opposing goalkeeper. He stressed that in high-intensity matches, decisive finishing in the opponent's penalty area often determines the result. Munoz stated that the team must continue to evolve and take further steps forward, noting that three to four one-on-one chances were created but not converted.

Furthermore, Munoz made it clear that no player is guaranteed a starting position, with 37 quality players vying for spots. He warned that complacency is not an option, as any lapse could lead to a player being sidelined for an extended period.
