Jericho man preaching 'destruction to Zionists', support for Hamas arrested

Israeli police, in coordination with the IDF, apprehended a suspect in Jericho overnight on Wednesday for allegedly publishing incitement against Israel and expressing support for Hamas on social media. The operation involved the Judea and Samaria District's Observation and Intelligence Unit, the Border Police, and the IDF's 417th Brigade.

The 39-year-old suspect is accused of managing several social media accounts where he posted inflammatory content targeting Israel and the IDF, alongside messages praising and supporting Hamas. One post reportedly stated, "God chose the name Hamas for us, and we did not know that its meaning in Hebrew is 'destruction and ruin,' and that it would be destruction and ruin for the Zionist occupiers."

Another post allegedly included the phrase, "Set ambushes and strike your enemies," accompanied by images that glorified Hamas members. According to police, the suspect has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood in the northern Gaza Strip and has been linked to Hamas operatives.

The suspect was found hiding near his home and was transferred for interrogation at the Ma'aleh Adumim police station. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to counter online incitement and support for designated terrorist organizations.
