Jerusalem man indicted over threats, damage to CNN and Italian media vehicles in West Bank

A Jerusalem man in his 20s faces charges for allegedly threatening foreign journalists and damaging their vehicles during an incident in the West Bank. Israel Police reported that the defendant used his car to block vehicles belonging to CNN and an Italian news organization north of Ramallah on July 11, preventing their departure.

According to police, the man threatened the journalists while armed with a club and a rock. He then allegedly received a knife from another individual and attempted to slash a vehicle's tire. Subsequently, he is accused of jumping onto the hood of another vehicle and striking its windshield with the club, causing damage.

The defendant has been charged with intentionally damaging a vehicle, unlawful possession of a knife, and making threats. Four suspects were initially arrested following the incident. The indicted suspect remains in custody, while the other three were released under specific conditions as the investigation continues.

The targeted journalists, including CNN Jerusalem correspondent Jeremy Diamond, were reporting near the site where a Palestinian-American was killed a year prior. Diamond described the attackers as being armed with clubs, rocks, and a knife.
