Jesper Lindstrøm joins Salzburg on loan

Jesper Lindstrøm is making another change of scenery, this time moving from Napoli to Red Bull Salzburg in the hope of restarting his football career.

The Austrian club will have an option to buy the 26-year-old winger after his loan spell. Lindstrøm said he was excited about the move and wanted to help Salzburg return to the level associated with its successful past.

Salzburg won 10 consecutive Austrian league titles from 2014 to 2023, but has not regained the championship since. The club’s sporting director, Marcus Mann, said Lindstrøm brings international experience, speed, technical quality and the ability to play in several positions.

With my efforts and my goals, I want to help us return to that level.

Lindstrøm established himself at Brøndby and Eintracht Frankfurt, where he became a Bundesliga standout and helped win the Europa League. Since joining Napoli in 2023, however, injuries have disrupted his progress. Loan spells at Everton and Wolfsburg produced limited success.

The Denmark international has made 18 senior appearances for his country. He told Salzburg’s website, "I am very excited about this new challenge. The club is known for its attractive football, success in the league and international performances."
