She plays Jennifer, a wealthy art patron entangled in an affair with a dancer who is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. While Chastain acknowledges her current privileged life, she draws a stark contrast to her own upbringing, recalling times when her mother struggled to provide enough food for the family.
