Jesús de la Garsa's 'Supernova' Collection Opens 85th Intermoda in Mexico

Mexican designer Jesús de la Garsa launched the 85th edition of Intermoda in Guadalajara with his 'Supernova' collection, a vibrant tribute marking his decade as a professional designer. The collection, inspired by the explosive birth of a star, features a dazzling array of styles and fabrics, aiming to dress a wide spectrum of women.

"'Supernova' means the birth of a new galaxy and it is the birth of a new era for us," De la Garsa told EFE. "These are ten incredible years that we thank, that we learned so much from them and ten new years are coming learning new things, creating, showing something different." The designs incorporate shimmering elements, rhinestones, feathers, and butterfly motifs, predominantly in black, gold, white, silver, and gray.

The collection offers a variety of silhouettes, including long and short dresses, oversized pants, bodysuits, crop tops, miniskirts, and asymmetrical blouses. De la Garsa emphasized his desire to cater to diverse tastes and ages, stating, "I want to dress not only one woman, I want to dress the mother, the daughter, the granddaughter, the grandmother, if she is a super daring grandmother." The pieces are crafted from a wide range of textiles, from brocades and sheer fabrics to leather, chiffon, velvet, and denim.

Complementing the apparel are accessories such as embroidered berets, thigh-high boots, platform shoes, fishnet stockings, butterfly-shaped glasses, wide leather belts, and leather jackets. De la Garsa, who recently became the first Mexican and Latin American designer to present a collection at the Cannes Film Festival, has seen his creations worn by influencers and actresses. The 85th Intermoda, considered Latin America's largest fashion business exhibition, is taking place in Guadalajara until July 24, attracting approximately 29,000 buyers and showcasing over a thousand brands.
