Jigawa Assembly's lone opposition lawmaker defects to ruling APC

Jigawa State House of Assembly has become a single-party chamber after its only opposition lawmaker, Muhammad Kabir, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Kabir, who represents the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, announced his switch on Wednesday at the Government House in Dutse. His defection means all 30 members of the assembly now belong to the APC.

Kabir cited Governor Umar Namadi's programs and achievements over the past three years as his motivation for joining the APC. He stated that his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders in his constituency, including family, friends, and political associates.
