Jigawa trains 928 youths on emerging technologies, opens digital portal for transparent governance

Jigawa State is actively cultivating a digitally skilled workforce and advancing technology-driven governance, according to Governor Umar Namadi. The state recently celebrated the graduation of 928 youths trained in emerging technologies through the World Bank-assisted Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project. The program, facilitated by Baze University, Abuja, provided a one-year professional diploma in areas like artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

Governor Namadi emphasized that this training is a crucial investment in human capital, designed to boost the state's digital economy. He stated, “This milestone is part of a deliberate and systematic effort to build a critical mass of Jigawa citizens with the professional capabilities required to power our digital economy, support innovation, pursue self-employment, and compete confidently in technology-driven organizations and the evolving world of work.” The governor also announced that 30 outstanding participants would receive laptops, and four had already secured employment with Baze University.

In parallel, the governor unveiled the Jigawa State 12-Point Agenda Digital Performance Portal. This platform aims to increase transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in government operations. The launch signifies the state's commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance. The event was attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Moruf Olatunji Alausa, and other dignitaries, underscoring the importance of these initiatives for national development.
