Enugu gov approves land for ITF’s digital fabrication centre

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved the allocation of a parcel of land in the state capital for the establishment of a cutting-edge Digital Fabrication Centre by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The announcement came during a courtesy visit by an ITF delegation to the Government House in Enugu.

Governor Mbah hailed the proposed center as a timely initiative that directly supports his administration's goal of positioning Enugu as a premier destination for investment, innovation, and technology-driven industrial growth. He emphasized that future economic prosperity hinges on strategic investments in human capital and emerging technologies. The state, he noted, is committed to cultivating an environment conducive to innovation, enterprise, and sustainable economic expansion.

Highlighting the administration's focus on future-readiness, Governor Mbah revealed that technical education, with an emphasis on digital literacy, robotics, and mechatronics, has been made compulsory in the state's basic education system. This move aims to equip young learners with the necessary competencies to thrive in the evolving global economy. He pointed out that many traditional trades are increasingly influenced by digital technologies, making it crucial to provide young people with relevant skills for global competitiveness and economic contribution.

Governor Mbah further disclosed that his administration has built smart schools across the state, equipped with robotics centres, mechatronics laboratories and other modern learning facilities, to prepare youths for the evolving global economy.
