Jimmy Liao's 'Batman Black Dog' Arrives at Yilan Transfer Station, Stamp Event Offers Cute Badges

Yilan Transfer Station in Taiwan now boasts a new public art installation featuring "Batman Black Dog," a character from the works of renowned Taiwanese artist Jimmy Liao. The county government invested over NT$4 million (approximately $128,000 USD) to commission the "Batman Black Dog" sculpture, which stands 3 meters tall and is described as Jimmy Liao's largest animal sculpture in Yilan.

The artwork, inspired by Liao's picture book "Secrets in the Forest," integrates natural imagery with functional elements like umbrella stands. The sculpture, along with smaller "black dog" figures, is intended to create a welcoming atmosphere for the station's estimated 3 million annual passengers.

To engage visitors and promote local exploration, the Yilan County Government has organized a stamp-collecting activity titled "Wind's Footprints." Running until September 6, the event encourages participants to visit three designated check-in points: the Yilan Train Station Tourist Service Center, the Li Ke-Yong Memorial Library, and the transfer station itself. Collecting three stamps allows participants to redeem a limited-edition "Wind's Friends" small badge at the transfer station.

Furthermore, those who take photos with the "Batman Black Dog" artwork, share them on social media with the hashtag "#風的足跡，我在宜蘭收集幾米的色彩" (Wind's Footprints, I'm Collecting Jimmy's Colors in Yilan), and tag the specified keyword will receive an additional limited-edition large badge. The county government hopes this initiative will encourage people to explore Yilan, interact with public art, and create memorable summer experiences.
