JKR Launches Three Initiatives to Strengthen Sustainable Development Agenda

The Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) has introduced three key initiatives designed to bolster the country's commitment to sustainable development and digital transformation. These strategic moves are set to reshape how development projects are managed and rated for environmental impact.

The newly launched programs include the JKR Sustainable Development Policy, which provides a framework for environmentally conscious construction. Alongside this, the JKR/SIRIM Standard 2:2025 Green Rating (pH) for Buildings will standardize the assessment of green building practices. Complementing these is the JKR e-pH System, a digital platform intended to streamline the green rating process.

These initiatives are expected to significantly strengthen the governance of sustainable development, ensuring a more uniform application of green rating standards across projects. Furthermore, the digital system aims to boost the efficiency of service delivery within the department, aligning with national goals for modernization and environmental responsibility.
