John Boadu declares support for Chairman Wontumi, calls for calm among NPP supporters

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has publicly declared his support for the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi. Boadu characterized Wontumi's current situation as that of a political prisoner and urged party members to stand in solidarity during this challenging period.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 22, Boadu expressed concern over Chairman Wontumi's detention. "The New Patriotic Party is a family, and in moments of difficulty, we stand together," he stated, reinforcing the party's commitment to mutual support. Boadu affirmed his belief that Chairman Wontumi is a political prisoner and pledged his full backing to Wontumi, his family, and his supporters.

Boadu appealed to NPP members and sympathizers nationwide to maintain calmness and adhere to legal processes despite the developments surrounding the case. He indicated that the party's leadership is actively pursuing legal and constitutional avenues to secure Chairman Wontumi's release. He stressed the importance of unity and discipline among supporters, urging them not to let the situation cause division.
