Johnny Depp surprises at San Diego Comic-Con with 'Ebenezer' trailer

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, electrifying attendees with the unveiling of the trailer for his upcoming film, 'Ebenezer.' The actor emerged at the 'Ebenezer's Office' promotional activation before presenting the trailer in the convention's Hall H auditorium.

'Ebenezer' is described as a new take on the classic character Ebenezer Scrooge, the miserly figure from Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol.' While details of the plot remain under wraps, Paramount Pictures and Domain Entertainment, the film's producers, have teased that it will reveal "the story you don't know" about the iconic character. The film is slated for release in theaters on November 13.

Directed by Ti West, known for his work in the horror genre, the movie features a cast that includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, and veteran actor Ian McKellen. The screenplay is penned by Nathaniel Halpern, with Emma Watts serving as producer.

Comic-Con 2026, which kicked off on Thursday, is expected to draw over 135,000 attendees over its four-day run. The convention is anticipated to generate more than $160 million in regional economic impact, fueled by visitor spending. As the world's largest convention for comics and popular arts, it spans over 460,000 square feet of exhibition space, hosts more than 1,000 exhibitors, and offers over 2,000 hours of programming.
