Jokerit thrash SaiPa in Marski Cup final ahead of SM-liiga return

Jokerit, set to rejoin Finland's SM-liiga, showcased formidable strength by overwhelming SaiPa 7-1 in the Marski Cup final. The team, which last played in the SM-liiga in the 2013-2014 season before moving to the KHL until 2022, demonstrated its preparedness for its return.

From the outset, Jokerit asserted dominance, netting four goals in the first period. Alexander Forslund, Jesse Liuksiala, Oliver Suni, and Riku Tuomola all found the back of the net. The second period saw Jere Henriksson add another goal, extending Jokerit's lead to a commanding 5-0.

In the final period, Jokerit continued their offensive onslaught with two more goals from Bruno Kallio and a second from Henriksson, bringing the score to 7-0. SaiPa managed to score a single goal late in the period through Petr Fridrich, but it was a mere consolation in the face of Jokerit's overwhelming performance.

This decisive victory follows Jokerit's earlier wins in the tournament, a 3-1 defeat of Jukurit and SaiPa's 3-2 win over JYP. The team's current form suggests they are a strong contender as the new SM-liiga season commences on September 1.
