Jokowi urges PSI cadres to build strong party machine for 2029 elections

President Joko Widodo has called on the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) to energize its organizational structure, urging cadres to build a robust party machine that extends to the village level. Speaking at a regional work meeting in Bandar Lampung, Jokowi emphasized this grassroots strength as crucial for the party's success in the 2029 general elections.

Why did I come here (Lampung)? One of the reasons is that. In Lampung, [the organization] up to the village level is already over 90 percent. This will become a big machine and a strong party machine. But the structure machine must be alive and working.

Jokowi conveyed his optimism that PSI will not only secure seats in the House of Representatives (DPR RI) but achieve even greater results. He cautioned against relying solely on central leadership, stressing that the party's true power lies in active, functioning structures at the lowest levels, known as 'ranting.' He specifically praised PSI's organizational reach in Lampung, where over 90 percent of grassroots structures are reportedly established.

He advised them to build social connections by attending community events like funerals and weddings, and participating in religious activities. Furthermore, he urged them to introduce the party to community, traditional, and religious leaders to enhance PSI's public profile.

PSI's logo is an elephant, so it must be introduced to the public and leaders.

Recognizing that public awareness of PSI and its elephant logo needs improvement, Jokowi highlighted that only about 78 percent of the population currently recognizes the party, with just 48 percent identifying its logo. He believes that a strong, active party machine is key to achieving PSI's ambitious goals for 2029, which he described as 'big targets' beyond simply entering parliament.
