Jonathan Kuminga Signs 2-Year Deal with Minnesota Timberwolves

Forward Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year deal worth $12.4 million with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report by ESPN's Shams Charania. The 23-year-old becomes a free agent after his contract with the Atlanta Hawks was not extended.

The Timberwolves are reportedly looking to fill a starting power forward vacancy with Kuminga, pairing him with star guard Anthony Edwards. This move could see him play alongside other key players like LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

To facilitate this signing, the Timberwolves may need to explore trade options for backup forward Josh Green or potentially waive him. Kuminga's recent contract history includes a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, which was finalized late last year after lengthy negotiations. He was then traded to the Atlanta Hawks in February.

During his 16-game stint with the Hawks last season, Kuminga averaged 12.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He also contributed 13.7 points per game during their playoff series against the New York Knicks. However, the Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option for the next season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
