Jorge Martín takes pole and sets record at British Grand Prix

Spanish rider Jorge Martín has claimed pole position and set a new track record at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. The MotoGP championship leader achieved a blistering time of 1 minute 56.160 seconds on his final qualifying lap, edging out compatriot Raúl Fernández by just 0.021 seconds.

Martín's performance ensured an all-Aprilia front row for the start of the race, with Fernández's teammate Ai Ogura securing third place. This marks a strong showing for Aprilia machinery at the historic Silverstone circuit. Other notable riders include Marco Bezzecchi in fifth and Marc Márquez in sixth.

One of the day's surprises was Iker Lecuona qualifying in 10th place for Ducati-Gresini, making it into Q2 despite being a replacement rider. Raúl Fernández also drew attention with a helmet design paying homage to Spain's 2026 World Cup victory, featuring the team's colors and player names.

The weekend's action includes a sprint race on Saturday, offering early points, followed by the main Grand Prix on Sunday. Martín's dominant qualifying performance positions him as a strong contender for both events.
