Venezuela achieves historic first win at U-17 Women's Volleyball World Championship against Peru

Venezuela achieved a historic milestone in the U-17 Women's Volleyball World Championship, clinching their first-ever tournament victory by defeating Peru 3-1. The win came after an initial setback against Mexico in their opening match.

The match was a hard-fought battle. Venezuela started strong, winning the first set 25-23. However, Peru rallied to tie the game by winning the second set 25-23. Venezuela then regained momentum, securing the next two sets with scores of 27-25 and 25-20 to claim the historic victory.

Yalesca Colina was instrumental in Venezuela's success, leading all scorers with an impressive 24 points. Fabianny Carima also provided strong support with 18 points. For Peru, Nahir Cueva and Kiara Lazo were their top performers, each scoring 11 points.

Venezuela's team demonstrated superiority in several key areas, including attacks (56 to 42) and service points (7 to 4). While Peru had a slight edge in blocks (12 to 10) and capitalized more on Venezuela's errors (35 to 27), Venezuela's overall performance, particularly in defense with 132 saves compared to Peru's 118, secured the win. Venezuela will continue their campaign in Group B against China, Tunisia, and the Philippines.
