Joshua Duerksen Completes Monza Double with Feature-Race Victory in F2

Joshua Duerksen turned Monza into his own weekend. The Paraguayan driver won Sunday’s Formula 2 feature race after taking Saturday’s sprint, completing a standout double at the Italian circuit.

Starting from the front row in second place, Duerksen passed his Invicta Racing teammate Rafael Câmara, who had taken pole, in the opening meters. Câmara regained the lead on lap four with DRS, and the teammates exchanged positions during the next two laps.

Duerksen made his mandatory tire stop while running second, then dropped to fifth as other drivers made their stops. He climbed back to third, waiting for the two cars ahead to pit. When they did, the lead returned to the No. 2 car driven by Duerksen.

A problem for Hitech’s Colton Herta on lap 12 brought out the safety car and erased the gaps between the drivers. Racing resumed on lap 17, with Duerksen still in front. He set the fastest lap the following time around and then worked to keep Câmara outside DRS range.

Duerksen held the lead to the finish. The result marked his first feature-race victory of the season and his first double in Formula 2, following his sprint win the previous day.
