Journalist Lý Việt Trung appointed vice chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association

Journalist Lý Việt Trung has moved into a full-time leadership role at the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association after the city’s Party Standing Committee announced her appointment on Sept. 7.

Dương Anh Đức, a member of the Party Standing Committee and head of the city’s Propaganda and Education Commission, chaired the announcement ceremony. Thái Thị Bích Liên, deputy head of the city Party Organization Commission, formally announced the personnel decision. Lê Văn Minh, general director of the Ho Chi Minh City Agency for Press, Radio and Television, and representatives of the association also attended.

Trung, who previously served as editor-in-chief of Phụ Nữ Ho Chi Minh City newspaper before its restructuring, had also been a part-time vice chairwoman of the association. She will now serve in the position on a full-time basis.

Dức asked Trung to quickly adapt to her new responsibilities and help build a more professional association. He highlighted the need to maintain unity, draw on the strengths of local media organizations and central press agencies operating in the city, and reflect residents’ concerns in a timely way. He also said the association should help bring Party and state policies into daily life and promote a positive image of Ho Chi Minh City.

Trung said she was honored by the city’s confidence. She described the new role as having “both familiar and new aspects” because she had previously held the association position concurrently. She asked the relevant city bodies, the city’s press and broadcasting agency, and the association’s standing body to continue supporting her work.

She said that if members of the profession remained united and creative, the association could develop richer, more practical and more diverse activities while bringing together journalists from the city and central media organizations based there.
