Journalist Taylan Erten Passes Away

Taylan Erten, a distinguished journalist and Ankara Representative for the Turkish Journalists Association, has died. Erten was a recipient of the 2018 Burhan Felek Press Service Award, a testament to his significant contributions to the field of journalism in Turkey.

The Turkish Journalists Association announced Erten's passing with deep sorrow, remembering him as a colleague who served the profession and the association with distinction for many years. They extended condolences to his family and the broader press community.

Erten's career began in 1962 at the PTT NATO Department. He held various prominent positions throughout his career, including Head of Press and Public Relations for the Ankara Municipality and press advisor for the Ministries of Local Government and Trade. He worked for numerous newspapers, including Yenigün, Politika, Aydınlık, Yeni Asır, and Sabah, and served as the Ankara Regional Coordinator for Dünya Gazetesi.

He was also a founding member of the Economy Reporters Association and a member of the Journalists Association in Ankara and the National Policy Research Foundation. Born in Konya in 1942, Erten studied at the Istanbul Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences. He was married with one child. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, following the afternoon prayer at the Karşıyaka Mezarlık Mosque, with burial to follow at Karşıyaka Cemetery.
