Jude Okoye denies $1.2m royalty diversion claim, says Mr P avoiding court

Jude Okoye, former manager of P-Square, has vehemently denied accusations from his brother, Peter Okoye (Mr P), that he diverted over $1.2 million in music royalties. Okoye asserted that the matter has already been addressed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and is currently before the courts, accusing Mr P of attempting to manipulate public opinion while evading legal proceedings.

In a social media video, Jude Okoye challenged Mr P's claims, stating, "You are trying to bait me. You know the court is not going to your favour." He questioned why Mr P was avoiding court appearances, noting his absence from three previous sittings. Okoye also addressed the specific allegation of diverting a $25,000 royalty payment, explaining that the funds were paid directly to Mr P's personal account in 2016 as per his instructions, while the remaining balance for Jude and Rudeboy went to the Northside Entertainment account. "Peter’s money was sent to him directly… Peter knows this. This has been trashed by the EFCC. We are still in court. How do you explain this?" he asked.

Further refuting Mr P's statements, Jude presented what he called official bank mandates to counter claims of being removed as a signatory to P-Square's accounts, asserting that Mr P remained a signatory. He also disputed the timeline for handing over music catalogue backend records, stating it took six days, not three and a half months, and that download logs showed Peter accessed the files immediately. Okoye also challenged the assertion that Mr P only recently started receiving dollar payments, providing records that indicated payments in US dollars since 2012. He insisted that all royalty payments were properly documented and distributed according to agreements, rejecting the diversion claim entirely.

The legal battle has taken a personal toll on Jude Okoye, who revealed his accounts have been frozen for over two years, preventing him from traveling. He stated he would not discuss matters still before the court but felt compelled to respond to "false narratives" circulating online.
