Judge defiant amid scrutiny over academic degrees

Judge Dina Marchuk Santacruz has once again found herself at the center of controversy, this time responding to critics with a defiant "¡Para vos llorón!" (For you, crybaby!) after it emerged she holds degrees from Universidad Sudamericana, an institution currently under investigation for allegedly issuing academic certificates irregularly.

Through her Threads account, the magistrate posted a photograph displaying two academic titles, accompanied by the phrase "sin lloroooo" (without crying), an expression she previously used when responding to former senator Kattya González during a dispute involving Supreme Court Justice Carolina Llanes.

Marchuk later shared a second image showing a diploma for a master's degree in Criminal and Procedural Law with an emphasis on Adversarial Litigation from Universidad Columbia. This was accompanied by a more direct message: "¡Para vos llorón!" and a certificate of doctorate completion, where she again used the phrase "Sin lloro" (Without crying).

These posts were widely interpreted as a response to public criticism on social media after ABC Color revealed that Marchuk possesses a degree from Universidad Sudamericana, the same institution involved in the investigation of former senator Hernán David Rivas's controversial degree. The revelation sparked significant public backlash due to the scandal surrounding Rivas's academic credentials, which ultimately led to his resignation from his seat as investigations into their authenticity and legality progressed.

This is not the first time Marchuk has courted controversy with her public statements. Weeks prior, she commented on a publication regarding former senator Kattya González's criticism of Supreme Court Justice María Carolina Llanes, who voted to reject González's action against her expulsion from the Senate. Marchuk expressed her annoyance by responding, "Sin lloro" (Without crying) to ABC's report on González's statements.
