Jung Eun-ji marks 10 years of solo debut: 'I'm a growth character, fulfilling my singer-songwriter dream'

Singer Jung Eun-ji has returned with her fifth mini-album, [Summer,I], celebrating a decade since her solo debut. The album, released on August 11, showcases her growth as an artist and singer-songwriter, featuring seven tracks that explore the emotions of love through various summer-inspired genres.

The album name 'Summer' and 'I' could express all of this, as the album release date is August 11 and my birthday is August 18.

Jung Eun-ji not only composed and produced the entire album but also collaborated with notable musicians such as 10CM, JeA, and Sowon, enhancing its overall quality. She expressed that the album's creation was possible due to the support and appreciation for her music, describing it as a project where question marks and exclamation points about her growth coexist.

The title track, 'Wave (I Love Love)', was inspired by the thought, "What kind of person am I in love?" It reflects Jung Eun-ji's desire to love music, the world, and herself more each day, looking back at all the moments love has occupied her life. Guitarist JeA contributed to the track's instrumentation. Jung Eun-ji noted that the song aims to provide a sense of exhilaration, particularly through its high notes, a characteristic many fans appreciate.

I never thought I had excellent songwriting skills, but many people liked and supported the music I made, so the album could be released. It's an album where 'Have I grown?' coexists as a question mark and an exclamation point.

Reflecting on her past work, Jung Eun-ji mentioned that the track 'Wind Along' was revisited with a mature perspective, incorporating lyrical nods to her debut song 'Haneulbaragi' (Looking at the Sky). She also discussed the paradoxical title 'Romantic Party', which contrasts with its theme of moving on from heartbreak. The final ballad, 'Where Love Has Gone', was crafted to convey a sense of emptiness, a theme she felt resonated with her perception of love's weight.

Defining herself as a "growth character" (성장캐), Jung Eun-ji stated she is continuously achieving her dreams, including her current aspiration as a singer-songwriter. Her fellow Apink members have listened to the album and praised its detailed production. Jung Eun-ji concluded the showcase by expressing her hope that her sincerity resonates with listeners, having found value in people during the album's creation. She is set to hold solo concerts titled 'SUMMER, I' in September.
