"Juodas Vilnius" Returns: Thousands Gather in Kalnai Park for "ba." and "Solo Ansamblis" Festival

Vilnius's Kalnai Park transformed into an alternative music hub Saturday evening as the "Juodas Vilnius" festival made its return. The one-day event, organized by the bands "ba." and "Solo Ansamblis," attracted more than 10,000 visitors, reaffirming its status as one of Lithuania's largest alternative music gatherings. This year's festival showcased not only the headlining Lithuanian acts "ba." and "Solo Ansamblis" but also featured international guests, including the British post-punk band "DITZ." Benas Aleksandravičius, the leader of "ba.," expressed his excitement about inviting "DITZ," a band whose music he has championed for nearly a decade. The "DITZ" members were reportedly impressed by the audience's reception, the festival's atmosphere, and Vilnius itself, with one member expressing a desire to return for a family vacation. Local talent also graced the stage, with the Kaunas-based group "SH" making a comeback and the duo "Pilaitė" performing. The festival's unique stage design, incorporating light and visual elements, created a cohesive aesthetic narrative throughout the event. A significant highlight was the premiere of a trailer for "ba.'s" new album, "MIXTAPE VOL. 1," shown on festival screens just before the band performed an unreleased song from the upcoming release. The album, which Aleksandravičius described as his most personal work and which he produced himself, became available on all music platforms immediately after midnight. Attendees also had the opportunity to purchase a special 10-inch vinyl release featuring new tracks from both "ba." and "Solo Ansamblis." "Solo Ansamblis" shared their appreciation for the "Juodas Vilnius" community's unity, noting the diverse crowd and the vibrant sense of togetherness fostered by alternative music.
