Jurgen Klopp reportedly agrees to coach Germany until 2030, targeting 2026 World Cup

Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager, has reportedly reached an agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) to take the helm of the national team. The deal, which sources say was finalized during a meeting in New York, would see Klopp coach Germany until 2030, guiding them through Euro 2028 and the 2026 World Cup.

This move comes as Germany seeks to rebound from a string of disappointing World Cup performances, including a recent exit in the round of 32. The DFB confirmed that initial talks were intensive, with DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke traveling to New York to meet Klopp. He currently holds a position as Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull and has been a commentator during the World Cup.

According to The Athletic, both parties have agreed on the main points of the contract. However, the finalization of the deal hinges on approval from Red Bull, Klopp's current employer, and a formal sign-off from the DFB's supervisory and shareholder meetings. Klopp, a highly successful German coach, previously led Borussia Dortmund to domestic titles before his impactful tenure at Liverpool, where he secured prestigious trophies including the Champions League and the Premier League.
