Justice and Development Party unveils election program, prioritizing anti-corruption and institutional reform

The Justice and Development Party has unveiled its program for Morocco’s legislative elections on Sept. 23, putting the fight against corruption and institutional reform at the center of its vision for the next stage.

Presented in Rabat on Monday, the program highlights administrative modernization, stronger democracy, judicial reform and more effective governance. The party also calls for greater respect for the supremacy of the Constitution and a democratic interpretation of its provisions.

Digital transformation is one of the platform’s key tools. The party proposes speeding up the digitalization of public services to simplify citizens’ dealings with the administration and reduce the complications tied to official procedures. It also wants businesses to benefit from modern technologies to raise productivity.

The program links administrative modernization with efforts to combat certain forms of corruption. In the party’s view, moving services online could reduce discretionary decision-making and provide more opportunities to track administrative operations and procedures.

Politically, the party calls for stronger representative and participatory democracy. It says political parties, trade unions, associations and mediation institutions should regain their role in public representation, training and conveying citizens’ expectations.
