Kaduna gov donates buses to NUJ, NBA, others

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has donated brand-new buses to five organisations and institutions in the state, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Medical Association.

All the five very critical institutions that were given these vehicles today are very important organisations and have done a lot in contributing towards the development of our state

Kaduna State University and the Nigerian Correctional Service also received vehicles at a presentation ceremony in Kaduna. Sani said the donation targeted transportation and mobility difficulties facing the beneficiaries, whom he described as important contributors to the state’s development.

KASU Vice-Chancellor Abdullahi Musa called the donation historic and thanked the governor for providing the university with a new bus. The Kaduna NUJ chairman, AbdulGafar Alabelewe, said the union had requested a vehicle around six months earlier during a Ramadan iftar with Sani.

Alabelewe said the NUJ’s previous bus had become unusable and that the new vehicle would help journalists travel to assignments across the state. He described the delivery as a major milestone, saying the union had not received a similar gesture from the state government in roughly 20 years.

He added that the media would continue to hold the government accountable while setting an agenda for development. The NMA chairman, Hassan Salihu, thanked Sani on behalf of healthcare professionals, while NBA chairman Baba Lawal said the donation would strengthen the branch’s operational capacity.
