Kaduna provides housing, scholarships to families of slain priest, mob victim

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has reiterated his administration's dedication to supporting victims of violence, emphasizing the provision of housing, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. This commitment was highlighted during separate courtesy visits from the families of the late Ven. Edwin Achi, a priest, and Ummulkhair Aliyu, a victim of jungle justice.

Governor Sani met with Mrs. Sarah Achi, the widow of Ven. Edwin Achi, accompanied by the Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya. He also welcomed Malam Usman Aliyu, the husband of Ummulkhair Aliyu, who was tragically killed in Maraban Jos, accompanied by Sheikh Haliru Maraya. Both families expressed their gratitude for the support received from the state government following the deaths of their loved ones.

I had the privilege of receiving Mrs Sarah Achi, wife of the late Ven. Edwin Achi, who paid a courtesy visit to express her heartfelt appreciation. She was accompanied by the Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya. I also welcomed Malam Usman Aliyu, husband of the late Ummulkhair Aliyu, whose life was tragically cut short in the painful incident of jungle justice in Maraban Jos. He was accompanied by Sheikh Haliru Maraya.

Recalling his personal visits to console the families after the incidents, Governor Sani assured them of his administration's continued support. "In keeping with that commitment, we provided each family with a home, extended financial support to help them rebuild their lives, and assumed responsibility for the education of their children," he stated. This initiative aligns with the administration's broader philosophy of restoring hope, dignity, and opportunities to victims of violence.

The governor also noted that the same approach informed the distribution of 100 housing units to victims of banditry across Kaduna State. He stressed the importance of working closely with security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, and all stakeholders to foster a safer, more peaceful, and inclusive Kaduna for every citizen.
